Moccasin Footprint Society
A registered Indigenous-led charity, established in 2008, working alongside Elders of the Northern Secwepemc to bring forward land-based education, rediscovery and wellness programs rooted in the living connection of its people to the health of the water.
Moccasin Footprint Society (MFS) is a registered and Indigenous-led charity established in 2008. BlueOcean Consulting was retained to assess the opportunities and risks associated with establishing and operating an education, rediscovery and wellness camp in the Quesnel Lake area. The work included the creation of a comprehensive business plan that reflects the vision of MFS and the Elders of the Northern Secwepemc.
Together with Elders, MFS is exploring multi-day programs for youth, families and elders that are rooted in the history, culture, language and living connection of the Secwepemc people to the health of the water and all that depend on it in the area.
MFS plans to teach a new way for all to actively protect and be part of a healthy environment — combining cultural resurgence, intergenerational learning and place-based stewardship into a long-term operating model for the camp and its surrounding territory.
